God is a distant stately lover
Woos as He states us - by His son
Verily a vicarious courtship
"Miles" and "Priscilla," were such an one.(1)

You love the Lord you cannot see
You write Him every day
A little note when you awake
And further in the day
An ample letter-How you miss-
And would delight to see-
But then His house is but a step-
And mine's in Heaven you see.(2)
