GOD THE BIBLE AND TRUE
CHRISTIANITY
Is Christianity
evil? "Absolutely yes," would say militant
atheists. They would then proceed to point out that the history of
Christianity is replete with examples of wars, persecutions, greed,
immorality, etc. that manifest both cruelty and hypocrisy.
This site acknowledges
that some Catholic and Protestant Christians of the past have committed
atrocities, injustices and immoral acts that were far from shining examples
of Christianity. On the other hand, this site does not recognize that such
actions were committed by "true" Christians. No sensible and rational mind
would accept the claims of anyone who calls himself an atheist while
regularly praying to God. Furthermore, no one would accept the claim of
anyone who asserts to be a Marxist, while openly supporting capitalist
principles. The glaring paradox found within such examples is the same
glaring paradox that spotlights the fact that butchers, the power hungry,
the greedy, and the hypocrites of the past were "pseudo-Christians" and not
true followers of Jesus Christ.
To determine if one is an
atheist, one need only check the foundational views of Atheism. To determine
of one is a Marxist, one need only check the foundational views of Marxism.
To determine if one is a Christian, one need only check the teachings of
Jesus Christ. What follows are some of the fundamental teachings of
Jesus Christ. An honest reading of some of His central teachings quickly
reveals that the many shameful acts committed by "Christians" of the past
were the actions of evil and hypocritical men and women, not the actions of
"true" Christians.
Love God and your
neighbor: "Jesus
said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with
all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This
is the first and great commandment. 39And the
second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40On
these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Matthew
22:37-40
Love your enemies:
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that
curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you, and persecute you;"
(Matthew 5:44)
Turn the other check: "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee
on thy right cheek, turn to him the other one also."
(Matthew 5:39)
Eschew violence:
"Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all
they that take the sword shall perish with the sword." (Matthew 26:52)
Be peacemakers: "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children
of God."
(Matthew 5:9)
Help those in need:
"And
he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34Then
shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my
Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the
world: 35For
I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink:
I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36Naked,
and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye
came unto me." (Matthew
25:33-36)
Do not be hypocritical:"He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you
hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me."
(Mark 7:6)
"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean
the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of
extortion and excess." (Matthew
23:25)
"These people draw near to Me with their
mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in
vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men."(Matthew 15:7-9)
Be clothed with humility:
"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth."
(Matthew 5:5)
Don’t be greedy:
"And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again,
and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in
riches to enter into the kingdom of God!" (Mark 10:24)
“He who says I know him and
does not keep His commandments is a liar and His truth is not in Him.”
(1 John 2:4)
“Not
everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of
heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven."
(Matthew 7:21, 23)
