GOD, THE BIBLE AND LYING

Truth is a fundamental trait of God's nature. God demands that His followers be truthful and sincere at all times.

Hebrews 6:18 -- That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

Satan is the father of lies.

John 8:44 -- Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Lying is a trait of the wicked.

Psalm 58:3 -- Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward and speak lies.

Psalm 62:4 --They fully intend to topple him (The righteous) from his lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.

Isaiah 59:4 -- No one calls for justice; no one pleads his case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments and speak lies; they conceive trouble and give birth to evil.

Proverbs 14:25 -- A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful.

Christians must abstain from lying.

Colossians 3:9 -- Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds.

1 John 2:21 -- I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

Obdurate lying will have eternal consequences.

Revelation 21:27-- And there shall in no wise enter into it (The New Jerusalem) any thing that defiles, neither whatsoever works abomination, or makes a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Revelation 22:15 -- For without (The New Jerusalem) are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves and makes a lie.
