GOD, THE BIBLE AND SUFFERING

     "Many are the afflictions of the righteous" and God allows them for the benefit of the sufferer. Christians will suffer and will be helped by suffering for the Master's use.

Hosea 6:1--Come, and let us return to the LORD;
      For He has torn, but He will heal us;
      He has stricken, but He will bind us up.

Nehemiah 9:33--However You are just in all that has befallen us;
      For You have dealt faithfully,
      But we have done wickedly.

Psalm 71:20--You, who have shown me great and severe troubles,
      Shall revive me again,
      And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

John 5:14--Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

1 Corinthians 5:4-5--In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5To deliver such an one (A sinner in the congregation) unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

SUFFERING TESTS AND PERFECTS BELIEVERS  FOR THEIR GLORIOUS FUTURE

1 Peter 1:7--That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1 Peter 4:12-13--Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy.

2 Thessalonians 1:4-5--so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, 5 which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer;

2 Timothy 2:12--If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

SUFFERING CAN BE THE NATURAL CONSEQUENCE TO FOLLOWING CHRIST

2 Timothy 3:12--Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Philippians 1:29--For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

GOD FINALLY DELIVERS

Psalm 34:19--Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivers him out of them all.

Psalm 116:7-9--Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. 8 For You have delivered my soul from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from falling. 9 I will walk before the LORD In the land of the living.
